PEMALANG — A dispute over the management of village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) funds in Kauman Village, Comal District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java, is heating up. Youth representatives insist their demands are purely about transparency of village funds and have nothing to do with the village head election (Pilkades).
As Ketik reported, youth representative Ananda Dimas said this at a press conference at the village hall on Friday (6/11). He stressed that residents simply want the village funds returned and managed openly.
Rp125.8 Million Not Yet Returned
The issue stems from Rp238 million in village capital given to the BUMDes for a food security program. About Rp113 million has reportedly been used, while the remaining Rp125,822,000 is being demanded back to the village treasury.
After a residents’ protest on 30 October 2026, four parties signed an agreement to return the funds on 7 November 2026. Residents are now waiting for the agreement to be honored.
Last-Minute Meeting Invitation
The youth also criticized a district meeting invitation received at 10 p.m. for a 9 a.m. meeting the next day. They said the short notice made it hard for residents to attend and prepare.
The case is a reminder of the importance of transparency in BUMDes capital management. Village deliberations, regular accountability reports and oversight by the Village Consultative Body (BPD) are key to ensuring village funds truly benefit residents.
