Kondisi Warung Mi Babi di Kabupaten Sukoharjo usai dibakar orang tak dikenal
Sukoharjo, desabersuara.id – The arson and vandalism of a non-halal eatery, Warung Mi Babi Tepi Sawah, in Parangjoro Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, has taken a surprising turn. Police revealed that those behind the attack on Saturday, 12 September 2026, were not local residents caught in a communal dispute, but a network of former terrorism convicts.
Sukoharjo Police Chief AKBP Andhika Dharma Sena confirmed that police had named two main suspects. One of them, identified by the initials AS, was arrested on 19 October in Purbayan, Baki District. AS, a former terrorism convict, reportedly resisted arrest before being secured and formally detained the following day.
A joint team is still hunting the second suspect, who fled. “We have put the other suspect on the wanted list (DPO) as of 24 October. Information indicates the fugitive is also a former terrorism convict,” the police chief said at Sukoharjo Police headquarters on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
The investigation developed quickly toward suspected involvement of a wider network. Following up on these findings, Central Java Police, backed by fully armed Brimob personnel, carried out a sudden search of a girls’ Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren) in Laban Village, Mojolaban District, before dawn on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. A similar search was reportedly carried out at a boys’ boarding school under the same foundation in Jenawi, Karanganyar Regency.
The secretary of the boarding school in Laban, Diyana Indah Sari, gave her account. She said police broke in at around 3:30 a.m. while more than a dozen female students, mostly aged 10 to 16, and four female teachers were asleep.
Diyana said all residents were taken to the Mojolaban Police station and then moved to Sukoharjo Police headquarters at 10 a.m. for questioning. “During questioning, we were asked about our identities and activities at the school. There were no questions about the pork noodle stall,” she said on Thursday, 29 October. They were allowed to go home at 7 p.m. after being picked up by their guardians.
The school also said officers seized personal belongings and foundation property, including a safe containing students’ and teachers’ savings and gold, motorcycles, archery equipment, a drone used for extracurricular activities and CCTV memory.
While the school complained of intimidation because officers arrived before dawn and broke down doors, police responded briefly that all enforcement and search procedures followed standard operating procedures for cases involving a suspected terrorism network.
According to police, the findings counter social media rumors that framed the arson as a result of friction between residents or political sentiment. Police and the Densus 88 counterterrorism unit continue to investigate the perpetrators’ main motive and whether any further attacks were being planned.
