JAKARTA — Lampung is looking to its economic future with optimism. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal presented the province’s investment potential and opportunities to more than 100 prospective domestic and international investors at the Lampung Economic & Investment Forum (LEIF) 2026 at the Grand Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

Themed “From Potential to Partnership: Accelerating Sustainable Investment in Lampung”, the forum was organized by the Lampung provincial government and Bank Indonesia’s Lampung office, and was followed by one-on-one meetings and the signing of letters of intent (LoI) with investors.

Sumatra’s Gateway with a Growing Economy

Governor Mirza highlighted Lampung’s strategic position as the gateway to Sumatra, backed by connectivity, natural resources and a strong agricultural and plantation base. In the second quarter of 2026, Lampung’s economy grew 5.29 percent year on year, the second highest in Sumatra. Bank Indonesia projects Lampung’s 2026 growth at 5.0–5.6 percent.

Key commodities such as rice, corn, cassava, pineapple, coffee, livestock and fisheries open big opportunities for processing industries. Lampung also offers opportunities in renewable energy, tourism, industry, infrastructure and the blue economy.

“We don’t want to just sell raw materials. Lampung must develop processing industries so that our commodities have greater added value.”

Three Commitments to Investors

To turn these opportunities into reality, the provincial government has prepared three steps to strengthen the investment climate:

  1. Fast, transparent, digital licensing.
  2. Regulatory and spatial planning certainty, along with incentives and simpler investment procedures.
  3. A conducive investment climate through proactive facilitation, land certainty and infrastructure support.

“The Lampung provincial government is committed to building an open, responsive and conducive investment climate so that existing opportunities can be turned into real cooperation,” Governor Mirza said.

Investor Confidence Keeps Growing

Strong business interest was reflected in 11 investment success stories presented at LEIF 2026. Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela called the forum a moment to expand strategic partnerships, while People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani stressed the importance of collaboration between central and regional governments in his keynote speech.

Bank Indonesia Lampung head Bimo Epyanto said Lampung’s strong economic fundamentals are an important asset for attracting investment, with plenty of room to grow through downstreaming of key commodities. Sungai Budi Group owner Widarto highlighted opportunities in commodity-based industries, while PT Danantara Investment Management investment director Dr. Fadli Rahman stressed the importance of project readiness and strategic partnerships.

With synergy between the central and regional governments, Bank Indonesia and the business community, Lampung is optimistic that quality investment will boost the value of its key commodities, create jobs and drive higher, more inclusive economic growth, including for farmers and businesses in Lampung’s villages.
